Skin peels FAQs

Some frequently asked questions about microdermabrasion:

What are skin peels?

What are Beta peels?

What peels do SkinCeutical offer?

What peels do SkinMedica offer?

What is Glycolic Acid?

Skin peels

There are different skin peels available for particular skin types. These come in different strengths from mild to strong. In recent years, companies have developed peels that are safe for all types of ethnic skins. The darker your complexion, the more careful you must be in selecting the correct peel.

Some peels can only be used in a doctor's office, while others can be used at home. Most address hyperpigmentation, skin texture, fine lines together or separately.

Beta

This is a powerful non-invasive skin renewal agent that outperforms traditional superficial chemical peels without causing damage to the skin.

The treatment disperses salicylic acid as microcristals that can reach into crevices and fine lines targeting the exact areas that need improvement. It is a short procedure. It lifts the dead cells of the surface of your skin, which stimulates reproduction of the underlying cells. It requires no down-time and is strictly an in-office treatment.

Skinmedica

SkinMedica is a comprehensive peel system consisting of 3 different chemical peels with different acid strength designed to produce various degrees of exfolition based on each patient's individual needs:

Illuminize Peel

This is the lightest peel. It is good for first-time chemical patients or those looking for a gentle superficial peel to make their skin brighter and more radiant.

Vitalize Peel

This is excellent for fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage, hyperpigmentation, acne and acne scarring. Safe for all ethnic skin types.

Rejuvenized Peel

This the deepest of the 3 peels. It penetrates in the deeper layers of the epidermis and produces the most amount of exfoliation. Only use on ethnic skin types if they can well tolerate this peel.

Each peel is designed to treat skin conditions from mild to severe including photo-damaged skin, fine lines and hyperpigmentation, acne and acne scarring. This is for only in-office treatment.
